OB/GYN is an abbreviation that has two meanings. OB/GYN stands for the field of medicine named Obstetrics and Gynecology and it also represents the specific women’s health doctor called an Obstetrician-Gynecologist. Obstetrics is a branch of medicine that deals with the care of women before getting pregnant, throughout their pregnancy, their unborn baby, labor and delivery and after they give birth. Gynecology is another branch of medicine that deals with any ailment specific to girls and women concerning the reproductive organs; uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix, ovaries and vagina.
